Winning proposal in an architectural competition!

In June 2025, Halmstad Municipality decided to launch an architectural competition to develop the future design of Söderbron. In December, the proposal “Portal” by Team Inhouse Tech was selected as the winner, and the proposal will now form the basis for the continued work with the new bridge and the development of the surrounding areas.
Halmstad is growing, and the central city needs traffic relief. The municipality is therefore planning a new bridge across the Nissan River, with connecting roads, Söderbron. The bridge is also a prerequisite for the development of areas such as Tullkammarkajen and the Kattegatt district.
The proposal was developed by Inhouse Tech in close collaboration with the architects &Rundquist, landscape architects Sydväst, and lighting designers Black ljusdesign. The company AnyViz was commissioned for the visualisations.
Winning the competition means that Inhouse Tech, together with its partners, will be commissioned to design the bridge and its connections on both sides of the Nissan. The design phase will result in tender documentation for a design‑and‑build contract and is expected to begin at the end of January 2026.
