East1

In Gamlestaden in Gothenburg, a new chapter is emerging in the city’s industrial history. The iconic building East 1, formerly SKF’s head office, is now gaining six new floors in a major extension – a project in which Inhouse Tech plays a key role.

As structural designers for the structural contractor Nordsvets, Inhouse Tech is responsible for coordinating the work between the various prefabrication suppliers.

Inhouse Tech’s task is to produce the documentation required for the prefabrication suppliers’ element drawings, which includes load calculations and overall structural stabilisation for the entire extension. In addition, Inhouse Tech is preparing the fabrication drawings for the new steel frame, which forms a central part of the new structure.

It has been an exciting project to be part of, given the building’s historical significance for the city.
Jonatan Halldin, Structural Engineer at Inhouse Tech

East 1 is a project where old meets new – where the robust architecture of the 1960s is integrated with modern technical solutions. The original building, designed by Gustaf Lettström and inaugurated in 1967, has long been a landmark in Gothenburg’s industrial landscape. It is now being given new life as part of a vibrant district where offices, culture and innovation come together.

For us at Inhouse Tech, this is a project that combines technical expertise with social commitment – an assignment where we have the opportunity to help shape Gothenburg’s future while honouring its roots.
